There is a sub-Reddit for all your interests not matter how niche it is, from the depth of the iceberg to the tip of it. But why Reddit ? what makes it different and why does everyone in all age groups seems to be using it regardless.
Was sick last week and had nothing to do, the idea of watching movies seemed like a chore but I did get in some Stephen Chow1 movies, reading books ? my brain gets in a fog where I end up re-reading the same page more than twice and forget what I just read after flipping the page, amidst all that a friend sent me a Reddit thread so I can check it out, and oh boy was I immersed in it.
I went out of my way and started going in the communities and reading threads of any kind from classical literature to Schopenhauer from memes to anime I was in the Reddit verse, then it hit me. I am part of numerous sub-Reddit communities that align with my interests, movies, music, philosophy, programming, anime and what not.
I won’t bother with the history and upbringing of Reddit because it’s already been done and if your really curious here are some links -

The first question that came to mind was “Why Reddit” because as of writing this post there are plethora of social platforms where people can interact and engage with each other so why do most communities choose Reddit as an Official internet home.
After some here and there of research the simple answer is because its one of the oldest and is publicly accessible to anyone, so with a few google searches someone can find your post on that niche Reddit community go through the threads and get the answers they are seeking for.
The other appealing factor is that since Reddit is a forum-style of the communities makes it easier for fans and experts of the topic to discuss, and also companies and crow sourced projects want to place their trademarks there before someone else snatches the handle.
While Reddit is 19 years old as of now and Facebook is 21 and Instagram 14, reddit remains the choice of the people because the forum like structure and answers being available one search away.
so far this is what my findings lead me to, but as the title is interesting as is maybe in the future will come with a longer essay and what not but for now. hope you enjoyed this little rant
