Your Using your Common Place Book wrong

Commonplace books (or commonplaces) are a way to compile knowledge, usually by writing information into blank books. They have been kept from antiquity, and were kept particularly during the Renaissance and in the nineteenth century. Such books are similar to scrapbooks filled with items of many kinds: notes, proverbsadagesaphorismsmaxims, quotes, letters, poems, tables of weights and measures, prayers, legal formulas, and recipes. I am a sucker for those type of videos that tell you your organizing or using your not properly and here is a 1hr+ video to show you how to be more productive with your note-taking and knowledge database, then I spend the coming few days learning and researching about that method instead of just using the commonplace book, after a few days later I will get bored with the new method and then revert to looking for something better, but years in and years out I am still doing the same thing, so makes me wonder is there correct way to use your commonplace book ?

Well the correct way is to use it however you find it useful, whether you write diagonally or have specialized tags and specific notes and columns for each collectible if it works for you and you are satisfied with that, then that is the correct way, if it gets the job done you want it then that is the correct way no other way will be better than the way that works best for you.

But still doesn’t mean you should stop looking for inspirations, seeing how others handle some complicated bits of information and how they maximize their use - you can do little tweaks here and there until you have fully settled in a system that is fully functional to whatever and any use you have.

Here are a couple of places I like going to and just sulking:
