1. The Theological Ghost
Every promise of resurrection is, at bottom, a promise about a body: a body returned, perfected, freed from fatigue, pain, decay, and death. Strip the doctrine to its chassis and the fantasy is inexhaustible flesh. Now look at the dominant image-economy of our actual age and notice it runs on an identical chassis. The looped, available, untiring body of the pornographic image is the resurrection body, prototype edition: flesh rendered as uptime. No fatigue, no refusal, no decay, no end. The oldest theological dream, delivered not by God but by the content server.
(the church promised a body that never dies. The platform delivered one, and monetized the wait.)
2. What the Loop Removes
But watch what the loop must remove to keep its promise. The resurrected body of the image cannot age, cannot tire, cannot be elsewhere, cannot say no in a way that sticks, and above all cannot die. And this is where the theology curdles, because mortality was never only a defect of the flesh. Mortality was the flesh’s last privacy. The mortal body is the one thing that cannot be made permanently available, cannot be looped, cannot be retained on the server. Death was the cache that eventually, mercifully, clears.
3. Two Eternities, Same Shape
So we inherit two visions of the eternal body, and their structural rhyme is the whole argument. The religious resurrection: flesh perfected, freed from limit, eternally present. The pornographic loop: flesh perfected, freed from limit, eternally present. The difference is not in the shape of the promise but in its direction. One is given as grace. The other is retained as content. One ends time. The other ends the possibility of time mattering, because nothing in the loop can ever be lost, and nothing that cannot be lost can ever matter for long.
4. The Question Both Share
Can a body that cannot die still desire? Desire runs on lack, on distance, on the finite. The mortal body wants because it is running out. The looped body, the resurrected body, the body without fatality: what would it want, and toward what, and at what cost?
>> THE SERVER PROMISED YOU A BODY WITHOUT FATIGUE
>> IT DELIVERED AN IMAGE WITHOUT A BODY
>> MORTALITY WAS NOT THE BUG IN THE FLESH
>> IT WAS THE ENCRYPTION
>> DEATH IS THE LAST CACHE THAT CLEARS
Pornography and resurrection are the same diagram drawn by two hands, one reaching for God and one reaching for the refresh rate. What both diagrams omit is the thing that made the body worth resurrecting in the first place: that it ends, that it knows it ends, and that everything it ever felt was borrowed against that ending.
